Dundee City

Yep (YOUth End Poverty) Dundee is a youth led anti-poverty project that has been set up by Roars not Whispers, a project set up in partnership with the Scottish Youth Parliament and Oxfam.

We want to give a voice to impoverished young people from all around Dundee. We want to give them the skills to investigate highlight and raise awareness of youth poverty in Dundee, and campaign for change.

Yep Dundee also wants to impart valuable skills to young people, which they can develop to take them further. It can broaden their network in the city, in the country and the world, improve their CV's and give them the opportunity to gain highly coveted MV awards and Youth Achievement awards.

We have produced a DVD in which we interviewed young people on the street, students, foreign workers, politicians and campaigners about their attitudes to the poverty in Dundee. From this we got conflicting views about what are the causes, the solutions, and whether or not it is even a problem.

We are going to use the DVD as a tool to get young people to think about poverty as an issue which really does affect their everyday lives, and inspire them to become a part of YOUth End Poverty, and we will work together to make poverty history in out city.
